Somaliland Weekly Weather Forecast (24–30 March 2026)
March 24, 2026
The Somaliland Information Management Center (IMC) has released the weekly weather forecast covering the period from 24th to 30th March 2026. The forecast indicates that light rainfall is expected across most regions of Somaliland, with moderate rainfall (50–100 mm) anticipated in parts of Awdal (particularly Baki and Borama districts) and Sanaag (including Ceerigaabo and Laasqorey districts). Conversely, dry conditions are expected in areas such as Zeylac and parts of western Berbera. A review of the previous week (17–23 March) shows that several regions experienced light to moderate rainfall, with notable amounts recorded in Berbera (104 mm), Baki (78 mm), and Hargeisa (57 mm), contributing to improved soil moisture and water availability. The forecasted rainfall is expected to support pasture regeneration, improve crop conditions, and enhance water availability for both domestic and livestock use. However, it may also increase the risk of livestock diseases and waterborne illnesses, particularly in areas with limited sanitation infrastructure. Additionally, accessibility challenges may arise due to muddy and impassable rural roads. IMC continues to provide timely, data-driven insights to support decision-making for government institutions, partners, and communities across Somaliland.
SOMALILAND WEEKLY WEATHER FORECAST Valid from 17 to 23 March 2026
March 17, 2026
The Somaliland Weekly Weather Forecast (17–23 March 2026) indicates predominantly light rainfall across most regions, with localized moderate precipitation expected in parts of Maroodijeex, Awdal, and Sanaag. These rainfall conditions are anticipated to improve short-term soil moisture, support early agricultural activities, and partially replenish surface water sources. However, the effectiveness of this rainfall is constrained by preceding prolonged dry conditions, limiting groundwater recharge and resulting in uneven pasture recovery. Dry conditions are expected to persist in Sool region and Buuhoodle district. Overall, the forecast highlights a moderate but short-term improvement in environmental conditions, emphasizing the need for continued monitoring and sustained rainfall for long-term recovery.
Somaliland Weekly Weather Forecast (02–08 March 2026)
March 2, 2026
The Somaliland Weekly Weather Forecast (02–08 March 2026) indicates predominantly dry conditions across most parts of the country, with localized light rainfall (1–20 mm) expected in selected districts of Awdal, Maroodijeex, Sanaag, Togdheer, Saaxil, and parts of Sool. According to the NOAA-NCEP GFS model, these isolated showers may provide short-term relief by improving soil moisture, supporting early crop germination, stimulating limited pasture regeneration, and partially replenishing surface water sources such as berkads and shallow wells. However, given the prolonged dry spell preceding this forecast, impacts on groundwater recharge are expected to remain minimal, with uneven pasture recovery and continued livestock stress unless sustained rainfall follows in the coming weeks.
